Haven't had any committed riders for Lackenwally as yet. Please post on this site if you are coming and stay tuned for updates. The ride will leave at 7am
sharp, so arrive around 6:45 to get maps etc. Call me with any questions. See this month's Spoke for details. The ride is this coming Saturday, Jun 13th.
Weather on long term looks perfect, but anything can happen.

I'll be there. I look forward to a long ride; it rests the mind and rejuvenates the spirit. Spirit is getting old, with the rest of me, right about now. |

Great morning for the Lackenwally! But what happened to the afternoon?
So how did the ride go? |

Thanks for the best Lacken/Franken/DoubleWally I've ever been on. I can't remember laughing so hard at a 120 mi rest stop. No injurys, no excessive
testosterone, great weather (even some rain was refreshing), all good. George, Joe, Norman - you guys are the best.
My Garmin had 149.4 miles and 11,071 ft of climbing. (Those detour miles were damn hilly!) And we still kept a 15 mph avg. Not bad.

The consensus was that the weather was better than the heat wave we rode in last year. Cool temperatures helped a lot and this time no one was moved to stand in the parking lot pouring water over his head (the weather did some of that for us). However, it did rain on us. Around the back of Lake Wallenpaupack we encountered a bridge that was being rebuilt and at this point nonexistent. Just as we reluctantly turned around reconciling ourselves to the extra miles (and extra hills) the skies opened up and it poured on us for a while. That was it, except for a shower up near Lake in the Clouds, but we took cover for a while at Canadensis at the rain passed. There are parts of this ride that are of unparalleled beauty: The northern part of New Jersey, the whole ride around the lake itself and the Gap where the cliffs tower above the road to Portland. In this background the discussion develops from whatever comes to mind. In the morning damp Norm tried in vain to spot a live Red Eft, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Newt) there were a lot of squished ones though. Traffic was light during the morning and we got to the subway shop for lunch in good time, considering that this half of the ride is quite hilly. As the day progressed the roads got a little busier culminating in some real urban riding just before the Gap. One driver up on Panther road did feel compelled to roll down the window and yell "Get off the road" for no evident reason. Others, however, waved and some youngsters up near the lake even applauded as we rode by. All in all it was a great day and thanks to Stormin' for organizing the ride.

Nice comments guys. I appreciate the positiveness. I felt great because of the cool weather and the moderate pace. Joe and I got lost after the bridge in
belvidere. I started to follow the old Frankenwally route South and then couldn't"t find our way back to Water St. When we finally got there we went
the opposite direction for a while, finally turned around and got back to the park. Added and extra 2 miles, but nice cool down. All in all a great ride, but
probably the last for me. Maybe another Overnightwally next year.

We skipped the extra bumps after the bridge and went directly to 46 and then 519. I have to laugh cause we both said "I bet Stormin stays traditional and
follows that old route."
